The Ultramarines are a Legion of fastidious and regimented soldiers, backed by the unparalleled infrastructure of the Five Hundred Worlds of Ultramar. They don't neccessarily apply to Deathwatch members as they're not even a chapter, and definitely not codex compliant, but the DW combat patrol does use the lieutenant helmet markings, so if you want to make your characters stand out a little, you can use them. But I believe basics for helmets at least are: Captain: No marking Lt. MK 3 as a result is most associated with Iron Warriors, Iron I keep seeing pics of Space Marines with armor that has cool looking cloak/robes and hoods over the helmets, but I can't find them in the customizations seemingly. These markings can be added to your armor as a sign of your Marine's accomplishments. You'll save a lot of time as all there needs to do is shade that basecoat + bring your Ultramarines blue back up, this time with brush of course. Company / squad markings also vary from chapter to chapter and again Deathwatch tend not to use these since they're not codex compliant.
